A contender for the world’s most attractive tomato; glossy mid-red fruits with irregular orange stripes.
One of the (many) things I love about having an allotment is being able to grow vegetables that you won’t find anywhere in the shops. Grew happily outside this year, some plants on a sheltered south-facing patio and some on the allotment.
As someone who usually only grows cherry tomatoes, these looked HUGE but the clue’s in the name. If you chop the tops off, the insides come out very easily leaving a thick walled shell suitable for stuffing.
I threw in some left-over bolognaise, topped with grated cheese and placed them in a lightly greased cupcake tray to keep their shape while cooking. Popped in the oven (180) for 25 minutes and bob’s your uncle.
